ALGHERO is an historic city of approx, 35,000 residents. It is situated on the north west coast of Sardinia, and is well known for its cathedral and historic centre, an impressive citadel, which dates back to Aragonese occupations (13th Century). Alghero's city walls, promenades and lively cobbled streets are jammed with boutiques and cafes, offering a taste of Catalan and Italian cultures. With an abundance of long sandy beaches, boat trips, restaurants and pizzerias Alghero is a great choice for relaxing off the bike, and socialising with friends or family.

Cycling around the area is second to none, with great rides in every direction, and a wide choice of terrain making it suitable for all abilities. The traffic free roads, great weather and spectacular national parks all add up to make this our favourite cycling destination.

Alghero is popular with active people and is well known for its SCUBA diving, windsurfing, climbing, horse riding and motorcycle touring.

Also well known for wine and olive oil production, sea food (lobster), game (wild boar) and quality cheeses.
